Post #6: #3RD WEEK OF WRITING AS DRAFTING
In my previous post, I promised to share with you the actual status of writing the book, HOW TO SHARI’AH-COMPLIANTLY INVEST IN THE PHILIPPINE STOCK MARKET: BEGINNER’S STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE, during the fourth week (March 21-31, 2022).
As mentioned in the same post, the third week of book writing marked the following milestones:
1. Drafting (writing without editing) only nine pages, instead of the 15 pages target, and
2. Drafting up to page 79 of the book, compared to page 45 target.
Let’s see what happened during the fourth week.
March 21 (Monday) – I was able to write 11 pages of the book (pages 79-89). Remember, I was then still on the drafting stage (that is, writing without editing) from 8 to 11 am, Monday to Thursday.
March 22 (Tuesday) – Two more pages were added (pages 89-90).
March 23 (Wednesday) – Another page was added (page 91).
March 24 (Thursday) – Two other pages were added (pages 92-93).
March 28-30 (Monday-Tuesday) – During these days, I was on travel and I was not able to spare time for writing.
March 31 (Thursday) – On this last day of the month, I was able to write a paragraph on the last written page (page 93).
That’s the fourth week of book writing. (As I disclosed in an earlier blog in this series, Friday morning is NOT included in my book writing schedule, as it is allotted to a particular weekly project.)
Now, let’s do the weekly evaluation. Remember my declared target every week? Writing 15 pages. How many pages did I actually finish? Only 14 (pages 79-93). There’s nothing to worry about because prior to writing the 14 pages, I had to outline the book contents and set up the book file. What’s important is that I was fully conscious of my writing status and progress.
Weekly evaluation: I was able to finish writing 14 pages of the book, which was one page less than the 15 pages target.
In summary, this fourth week of book writing marked the following milestones:
1. Draft writing 14 pages of the book, and
2. Draft writing up to page 93 of the book, compared to page 60 target.
In the next blog, insha’ Allah, I will share with you the continuation of initial drafting of the book, HOW TO SHARI’AH-COMPLIANTLY INVEST IN THE PHILIPPINE STOCK MARKET: BEGINNER’S STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE, by evaluating my performance during the first month (March 2022).
In particular, I will address the following evaluation questions:
* What milestones did I reach for this goal?
* How close am I to my goal?
* What brought me to my milestones?
* What roads turned out to be wrong ways?
* What better roads can I explore to get to my milestones?
