Post #5: 1ST AND 2ND WEEK OF WRITING AS DRAFTING
In my previous post, I promised to share with you the actual status of writing the book, HOW TO SHARI’AH-COMPLIANTLY INVEST IN THE PHILIPPINE STOCK MARKET: BEGINNER’S STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE, during the second half of the first month (March 14-31, 2022).
As mentioned in the same post, the first two weeks of book writing marked the following milestones:
1. Initial Table of Contents by brainstorming
2. Setting up the file with the desired book template (5.25 x 8 inches)
3. Drafting (writing without editing) 70 pages instead of the 30 pages target.
Let’s see what happened during the third week.
March 14 (Monday) – I was able to write seven pages of the book (pages 71-77). Remember, I was then still on the drafting stage (that is, writing without editing) from 8 to 11 am, Monday to Thursday.
March 15 (Tuesday) – Two more pages were added (pages 78-79).
March 16-17 (Wednesday and Thursday) – During these two days, I had more pressing tasks related to my teaching job and I was not able to give time to my writing. Some deadlines had to be met and the three hours daily (2-5 pm) allotted for works related to my teaching were not enough then.
That’s the third week of book writing. (As I disclosed in an earlier blog in this series, Friday morning is NOT included in my book writing schedule, as it is allotted to a particular weekly project.)
Now, let’s do the weekly evaluation. Remember my declared target every week? Writing 15 pages. How many pages did I actually finish? Only 9 (pages 71-79). There’s nothing to worry about because during the first two weeks, I was able to write 70 pages compared to the 30 pages target. What’s important is that I was fully conscious of my writing status and progress.
In summary, the third week of book writing marked the following milestones:
1. Drafting (writing without editing) only nine pages, instead of the 15 pages target, and
2. Drafting up to page 79 of the book, compared to page 45 target.
In the next blog, insha’ Allah, I will share with you the continuation of initial drafting of the book, HOW TO SHARI’AH-COMPLIANTLY INVEST IN THE PHILIPPINE STOCK MARKET: BEGINNER’S STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE, during the fourth week (March 21-31, 2022).
